A registered agent is the company your state lists to receive official mail for your LLC, such as legal notices and state compliance letters. Every state requires one, with a physical address in the state where you form.

Questions, answered plainly

What does the price include?

Your price has three parts: the state's filing fee, the Northwest Registered Agent fee, and our $150 service fee. You see all three for your state before you pay, and checkout shows them as separate lines.

How long does it take?

We process your order in 2-3 days. After that, the state reviews the filing. State approval times vary by state. A few states are slower: Maine only accepts filings by mail (about 10 days), and Arizona's standard filing and Illinois approvals also take longer, so the 2-3 day timeline doesn't apply there. You see this when you pick your state. Your status page shows each step as it happens.

Which state should I form my LLC in?

That decision is yours. We handle filing logistics and do not give legal or tax advice. If you are unsure, an attorney or tax professional can help you decide.

What is a registered agent, and do I need one?

Every state requires an LLC to list a registered agent with a physical address in that state to receive official mail. Your first year with Northwest Registered Agent is included. Registered agent service renews at $125 per year starting in year 2.

What is an EIN?

An EIN is a federal tax ID number for a business. Getting one is included in your order. We start the request after the state approves your LLC. If the responsible party has an SSN, you enter it once on a secure page after payment; it goes straight to Northwest and we don't store it. Without an SSN, the EIN is filed by mail for an added $200 and takes about 7 days.

Can I save my answers and finish later?

Yes. Each answer is saved as you go. If you add your email, we can send you a link to pick up where you left off.

Is my payment secure?

Payment runs through Stripe Checkout. Your card details go to Stripe directly and never touch our servers.

Where do I see my status and documents?

After you pay, we email you a private link to your status page. It shows each step of your filing and your documents as they arrive.

Is this legal advice?

No. We are not a law firm. We handle filing logistics and registered agent service, and you make every decision about your business.
